Feel Alive - Alkalize

Want to live longer? Look younger? Be vibrant? Alkalize your body!

The key to anti-aging? Weight loss? Strong bones? Alkalinity.

Alkalinity solves just about anything, yet most people know very little about it. Thus, we’ll start at the beginning.

Alkalinity is the opposite of acidity. Certain foods boost the alkalinity in the body and other foods decrease it.

An alkaline body is a healthy body because cells operate best in a slightly alkaline environment. As you learned in Chemistry 101, pH affects the ease at which chemical reactions occur. For example, a lower pH (acid) in your bloodstream means red blood cells aren’t able to carry as much oxygen. Since oxygen is the element that allows cells to turn food into energy, it is vitally important for the inner-health of your cells to have lots of oxygen.

When cells are deprived of oxygen, they start to cave in on themselves (think of wrinkles on an elderly person). These weakened cells are now susceptible to attacks from foreign entities like viruses and bacteria. Without the proper energy production (oxygen), cells can’t fend off these intruders.

By continuously living in an acidic-state, the body will literally start caving in on itself. Skin will become wrinkled, and a curvature of the spine will develop. People will literally die from the inside out because their cells are starving for oxygen and alkalinity.

Thus, alkalinity = oxygen = healthy cells = healthy you.

So How Do I Alkalize My Body?
The best way is to eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables. They are loaded with alkalizing minerals. Also, limit your intake of protein to less than 45 grams a day. Although necessary for health, protein leaves an acidic residue in the body. Thus, lowering your intake increases alkaline reserves.

For those of you that have difficulty getting veggies into your diet, try starting out with an alkalizing supplement like Alka Green.

These easily-to-swallow tablets are high in in calcium, potassium, and other vital minerals that alkalize the body. Made from organic, barley plants, they are a great way to get started on a vibrant, healthy, alkaline life! And remember: Alkalinity = Oxygen= Vitality.

One Small Step…

We are very bad at change. We’ve tried hundreds of times to lose weight, to eat better, to start exercising. We start off gung-ho, we quit things cold turkey, we make huge New Year’s resolutions.

We’ll last for a few weeks, maybe even a few months. But then we have a bad day, which turns into a bad week, and pretty soon we’re eating a pint of ice cream all by ourselves in the middle of the night.

These drastic changes can cause a great deal of stress and can actually shut down the cortex in our brains, causing us to loose our ability to think, judge, and reason. So, our past failures are not really our fault. We were just changing too quickly and short-circuiting our minds in the process.

So, instead of making life altering changes overnight, try changing gradually, giving your mind, body, friends, and family time to adjust to this new you. To lose weight, for example, you know you should start eating healthier. But don’t do it overnight, do it gradually. Start by eating an apple a day. Then in two weeks, add a salad to your meals. In four months, replace your steaks with chicken, and drink water instead of soda pop. In a year, you’ll be able to see your toes and you’ll feel 10 years younger. And how did you do it? By taking one small step at a time and doing it consistently over a period of months and years.

This same method can be applied to getting a better job, being more creative, even saving more money. By starting small, taking one class at a time, writing one sentence in your journal each night, and putting $20 a month in your IRA, you can start yourself towards the goals you’ve always been too scared to work towards.

The days are going to pass anyway, why not do a little something each day to make your future brighter. In a year, you’ll thank yourself for being so diligent, and you’ll think, “Hey, that wasn’t so bad after all.”
